Introduction and Overview

The Internet stack has a number of interfaces - network connection points - which are provided by the hardware network interfaces. These interfaces must be configured before they will function as part of the network. The IFRConfig allows these interfaces to be configured using automatic methods known as BOOTP, RevARP and ICMP mask request.

Configure network interface parameters from remote configurations
Syntax
*IFRConfig [-e] [-f] <interface> [revarp | bootp] [netmask]
Parameters
revarp -Use Reverse ARP to request our address
bootp -Use BOOTP to request our address
netmask -Use ICMP netmask query to request a netmask
-f -Force re-configuration of already configured interfaces
-e -Assign errors to Inet$Error
Use

The IfRConfig program is used to assign an Internet address to a network interface supported by the Internet module by requesting an address from a machine (or machines) on the local network. It must be used at Internet module startup time to define the network address of each interface present on a machine; it may also be used at a later time to redefine an interface's address or other operating parameters.
