Configuration options

Most of the configuration of FTP can be most easily performed from the windowing interface available from the 'Choices...' menu item on the iconbar menu.

Open 2 connections per FTP server
Use 2 connections per FTP server (if possible). If enabled, this allows directories to be listed during a file transfers. Note that this option isn't available in current releases of !FTP

Use RISCOS-style file paths
Use RISCOS-style pathnames. eg, 'FTP::server.$.directory'. If disabled, UNIX-style pathnames are used. eg, 'ftp://server/directory'

Idle disconnect
Disconnect from servers after the configured number of seconds of inactivity. If disabled, the server may disconnect anyway after a server-dependant period of inactivity.

Update directory windows during fetch
Update directory windows while the directory is being opened. If disabled, the window will be empty until details for all objects have been fetched.

Use CMOS filer sort/display settings
Use and update the RISCOS-filer settings for display and sorting type for directory windows.

Anti-UCE Email
Tick this option to supply a different (fake) email address for anonymous FTP connections, to combat Unsolicited Commercial Email. Enter a fake email address that will be the password field for anonymous FTP connections. eg, nospam@example.com

Disable use of PASV (firewall) command
Disable use of the PASV command. Some servers (or firewall setups) have problems with this command, so try disabling it if you cannot open directories on a particular FTP server.

Access on uploads
Set how the file access permissions for files that are uploading to an FTP server are determined. The available options are:

file permissions are copied from the source file,
file permissions are always private (no public read),
file permissions are always public (read-only),
file permissions are user configured,
no changes are made to the uploaded file permissions (they remain whatever the server defaults them to - this is useful for servers that don't support the change file permissions command. eg, homepages.demon.co.uk)

Advanced configuration options

Most of the configuration of FTP can be most easily performed from the windowing interface available from the 'Choices...' menu item on the iconbar menu (see above). However there are some options (only 1 in the current version) that may be of interest to the advanced user that are only available by editing the Choices:Internet.Files.!FTP file directly (eg, in a text editor).

Change this to ON if you'd like !FTP to appear as one of the network drives on the left hand side of the iconbar. You must quit and reload !FTP before this change will take effect.
