                    !SockStats 0.44 (05 Apr 2002)
                    A network information utility
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Intro:
Having used ZoneAlarm on Windows 98SE, I got used to having a little statistics
window monitoring internet and network traffic on my desktop. When I connected
my RiscPC to my university LAN, I really wanted to know how much data was going
in and out of my machine. I am also a stats junkie so this application was
begging to be written.
Sockstats will periodically query the Internet module and display information
stored internally within the stack to the user.

Usage:
Double click on !Sockstats filer icon to run. A window will open displaying
internet traffic statistics. Click Menu over the window to open the application
menu, which presents the following options:

 - Info
Get the version and date of SockStats as well as other bits of information
relating to this release of SockStats.

 - Choices...
This will open a window which will allow you to config how quickly SockStats
updates its display window. The default is 100 centiseconds (1 second) per
update. Increasing the time delay causes SockStats to update more slowly
while reducing the time delay causes SockStats to update more frequently.

 - Save
Use a standard RISC OS drag'n'drop save box to save a copy of the SockStats
display window as a plain textfile.

 - Control
Here you can perform a stopwatch like laptimer function on the traffic
statistics. In the submenu, click on Reset to zero all the displayed values.
All further traffic is then counted from zero, effectively monitoring all
traffic from the point in time that you clicked on Reset.
Click on Restore in the submenu to return the displayed values back to
   the current totals.

 - Quit
Use this to close SockStats and quit the application. Alternatively, just
close the display window to quit SockStats.
